CRD |
Changes to CRD to Help Protect Your Identity As part of the SEC’s and FINRA’s initiative to protect personal information and identities, FINRA recently announced that effective with the upcoming software release scheduled for June, 2008, access to viewing Social Security numbers (SSNs) in Web CRD/IARD will be restricted. The information will be encrypted within the data to protect against unauthorized access and SSNs will be masked with “Xs,” on the various screens on which this information appears, for anyone who is not entitled to view this information. All current Account Administrators will be initially entitled with the new “View Individual SSN” privilege. If there are other individuals within your organization that would require access to SSNs to perform their various job functions, the Account Administrator can give them that access through the FINRA Entitlement Account Management Tool. The ability to search by SSN in Web CRD/IARD will still be available to any individual, regardless of whether they are entitled to the new “View Individual SSN” privilege. In speaking with FINRA, we have been advised that when printing a U4 or U5, the SSN will be visible if requested by an account administrator with the new privilege. If it is requested by a user who does not have this privilege, the number will be masked. We will have more information when this new feature is released.
